Since the end of the 19th century when industrial robots were first introduced to the automobile industry, robotics has always been a prospective industry which has made a phenomenal impact on human life.
While research in the technical development of robots has evolved to a great extent, research for the design of robot which satisfies human emotions is not progressed as much.
Especially, in regards to intelligent service robots or social robots which may require frequent interactions and emotional communication with people, research on robot designs is indispensable.
Therefore, the ‘Robot Design Competition' maintains the theme of "Robot Design for Human Support" which proclaims a coexistence of people with robots. Such robots will provide autonomous support to human daily life in the home, office, public place, and etc.
